Abstract [sv]
The prevalence and severity of urinary incontinence (UI) increase with age and comorbidity. UI affects about one-fourth of adult women and is twice as prevalent among women as among men. Stress urinary incontinence (SUI), ie leakage during effort, is the most common type. Other types are urgency urinary incontinence (UUI) and mixed urinary incontinence (MUI). UI may severely affect quality of life and its costs for society are high. Embarrassment may prevent those in need from seeking help; in addition, access to care varies and treatment is often not optimal. First-line treatments for all types of UI are lifestyle advice and pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT). Bladder training is added for UUI and MUI.Almost 95% of the Swedish population has access to the Internet, and 63% of the adult population owns a smartphone.
