Storskaliga prov ur provtagarnas perspektiv: Samband mellan provtyp, provtagaregenskaper och provprestation
Title [en]
Large-scale achievement tests from the perspective of the test-taker: Relationships between test type, test-taker characteristics, and test performance
Abstract [sv]
In recent years, large reforms have been implemented in the Swedish national assessment system. Among other things, more national tests than ever before have been introduced, considerable value is attached to findings from international comparative studies, and Högskoleprovet has been changed. Considering these changes, it is important to monitor a) how these different tests are actually perceived by the test-takers, now and over time, and b) if different groups of test-takers react and behave differently in the different assessment contexts. We know rather little about these issues, and the main purpose of the project is therefore to investigate test-taker perceptions of and test-taking behavior on large-scale educational tests, and how variables like motivation, anxiety and test-taking strategies interacts with test characteristics and test performance. The project also aims at investigating if these relationships look differently for different groups of test-takers (e.g., gender, ethnicity), and if such differences to some extent can explain group differences in test scores. Data will be collected in connection with the national tests, international comparative studies and Högskoleprovet. The research questions will be explored using a variety of statistical methods and the outcomes are believed to be useful for students, teachers, schools and policy makers, as well as for the educational assessment society.
