Title [sv]
Utveckling och utvärdering av metoder för insamling och analys av intervallsekvenser
Title [en]
Development and evaluation of methods for collecting and analysing interval sequences
Abstract [sv]
We will systematically compare a number of different data collection and analysis methods with respect to the reliability of serial isochronous serial interval data from human participants. To this end we will conduct a large number of experiments where these aspects are varied and their effects measured on small to medium numbers of participants (e.g., 10-50). No such comparison has previously been conducted, although a large number of studies (both our own and others?) indicate that the choice of methods plays a substantial role. These issues are of particular importance for progress in areas of research where these data are related to cognitive performance, and for which it is extremely important that reliable estimates of timing performance are obtained and that possible different origins of timing variability be identified. These are essential issues for understanding the underlying mechanisms that empirically manifest themselves in correlations (on the order of 0.5) between cognitive and timing measures, and for progress in teasing out both behavioural and neurological correlates.
