Abstract [sv]

I den denna rapport så skapas det en lösning åt ett hypotetiskt företag som arbetar med digital design i rörlig- och stillbilds form. Rapporten fokuserar på att skapa en helhetslösning i form av nätverk-, server- och datorutrustning som är skräddarsytt mot kund. För att veta vilken typ av hårdvara som behövs så har en undersökning genomförts och fakta kring detta presenteras. Rapporten innehåller en kostnadskalkyl för samtlig utrustning med undantag gällande viss typ av kablage. Slutsatsen är att vid redigering av bild och film där data är av storleken 2GB hanteras kommer användandet av Graphical Processing Unit(GPU) acceleration i en rendreringsfarmsmiljö att effektivisera arbetet. Det rekommenderas två olika typer av Network Attached Storage(NAS) lösningar för att centralisera datalagringen inom företaget för säkrare datalagring med hjälp av Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) och snabba accesstider för pågående projekt som uppnås med hjälp av Solid State Diskar (SSD) tillsammans med en höghastighets nätverksanslutning (10Gbit/s).

Abstract [en]

In this report a solution is created for a hypothetical company that works with digital design in motion- and still form. The report focuses on creating a comprehensive solution in the form of network-, server and computer equipment that is tailored to the customer. To know what type of hardware needed in various machines as a study on the subject conducted and the facts surrounding it are presented. The report contains a cost estimate for all equipment except regarding particular type of cabling.The conclusion is that when editing images and video, where the data size is 2GB, the use of a Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) acceleration in a renderingsfarm to make the work more effective. It is recommendedtwo different types of network attached storage(NAS) solutions for centralizing data storage within the company for more secure data by using Redundant Array of Independent Disks(RAID) and fast access times for ongoing projects that achieved by using Solid State Disks(SSD) paired with a high-speed network connection (10Gbit / s).
