What's happening? : - A case study of Skam's transmedia storytelling (English)
Abstract [en]

This is a case study about the norwegian hit show Skam. The purpose of this study is to figure out how the producers of Skam is using different media platforms. This study aims to figure out how Skam´s media platforms collaborate with each other and how the production company use these media platforms from a strategic point of view. The theories that will apply on this study to answer the questions of the issue is both Henry Jenkins (2012) theories about today's transmedia storytelling and also Rehnbergs (2014) theories about corporate storytelling. Finally this study will include Janet Murrays (1999) theory about complex storytelling from a transmedial point of view and theories about strategic communication. The ten episods from season three, 15 pictures and videos posted on Instagram and all of the material from Skams website and tv.nrk.no is part of the empirical material. The result of the study shows that the transmedia storytelling works well within two of the three platforms, Skams website and Instagram. Instagram allows the viewer to take part as a hunter and there get further information about the show. Tv.nrk.no is the media platform that contributes least to the transmedia storytelling. The result also showed that using social medias from a strategic point of view matches their target group well.
