Formteckning: Kvalitativ studie av upplevelser av antroposofisk formteckning

Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was to describe how persons, with no previous experience of anthroposophic form drawing, but with interest in art therapy, would experience doing form drawing. The participants were 22 women in the art therapy program at the Umeå University. A questionnaire with both pre-determined and un-specified answers was administrated. The experiences from the drawing exercises were also written down individually during and after the procedure. The content of these were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.According to anthroposophical belief, health is viewed as a matter of balance between body, soul and spirit. Form drawing can be a vehicle into this balance. The results of this study show that form drawing may have both physical and mental effects, such as fatigue, happiness, and inner peace. It may create feelings of focus, acceptance and “flow”, but also of frustration, depending on individual expectations and conditions. A correlation between inner experience and outer movement emerges and is expressed in body language and handling of material and motif.
