Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

There are positive experiences of art therapy and creative art activities within the Swedish state compulsory treatment of people struggling with substance abuse but there is no evidence of its efficiency. As a first initiative a quantitative survey was conducted at the State Board of Institutional Care homes for clients receiving care under the Care of Abusers in order to describe if, how and with what aim art activity is done and if art activity combines with Motivational interviewing. The survey showed that creative art is used in four of the eleven institutions asked, that it combines with MI and that it is relevant to the individual processing of addiction and compulsory care. The survey indicates an interest in and a potential for development of creative art within the Swedish state compulsory treatment of people struggling with substance abuse.
