Abstract [sv]

Denna studies syfte var att beskriva betydelser och effekter av bildarbete med barn i skolan ur föräldrars och skolpersonals perspektiv. Barnen var i åldrarna 5-15 år, de flesta 8-10 år. Ett intervjuformulär med öppna frågor besvarades av 32 föräldrar och 31 skolpersonal. Svaren bearbetades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultatet visade att bildarbetet hade positiv betydelse för barnet enligt respondenterna. Positiva effekter beskrevs som ökad emotionell hälsa (stärkt självkänsla, kan bättre uttrycka och hantera känslor), som ökad social kompetens (bättre kamratrelationer), och som ökade skolfärdigheter (koncentration, verbal och skriftlig kommunikation). Föräldrar uttryckte tacksamhet över att deras barn fått möjlighet till bildarbete. Den internationella forskning som refereras i denna rapport, visar på liknande effekter av bildterapi och betonar samarbete mellan bildterapeut, skolpersonal och föräldrar för ett gott resultat.

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to describe the meaning and effects of art therapy with children in

school from the perspective of parents and school staff. The children were in the ages 5-15 years, most of them between 8 and 10 years.  A questionnaire with open-ended questions was answered by 32 parents and 31 school staff. The responses were processed with qualitative content analysis. The result showed that art therapy had a great, positive impact on the children, according to the respondents. Positive effects were described as improved emotional health (enhanced self-esteem, can better express and manage emotions), as increased social skills (better peer relationships), and improved educational skills (concentration, verbal and written communication). Parents expressed gratitude, that their children had been given the opportunity for art therapy. The international research referred to in this study show similar effects of art therapy and emphasizes collaboration between art therapist, school staff and parents is of importance for a good result.
