Abstract [en]

Field, Shadow Fields, and Boundary-work: Theoretical Tools for Analysis of Textbook Research. This article discusses some theoretical concepts in the study of textbook research. Principal concepts are field, subfield, boundary-work and network regarding the relationship between international textbook revision and the development of textbook research as a research area or line of research. The theoretical concepts are analyzed in relation to the autonomy, internal structure and external boundaries of the research area and the results are a contribution to a discussion about use of theory in the history of science with a focus on textbook research.
