SAMMANFATTNING

Bakgrund Nya effektivare kostregistreringsmetoder har utvecklats för att undersöka individers kostintag, bland annat kostregistrering i app. För att kunna dra slutsatser kring de nya kostregistreringsmetoderna krävs validering av den undersökta metoden.

Syfte Att validera kostregistreringsappen PREMEDkaloriräknare med 24- timmarsintervju (24HR) för 70- och 75-åringar.

Metod Studien genomfördes via ett samarbete med projektet Healthy Ageing initiativ. Rekrytering av 70- och 75-åringarna skedde på forskningscentret Livsmedicin, där de ingick i en större pågående studie. Datainsamlingen pågick i sju veckor. Totalt valde 26 personer att delta. Deltagarna fick introduktion om hur de skulle kostregistrera i appen. De fick SMS-utskick tre olika dagar (inklusive en helgdag) med information om att kostregistrera gårdagens matintag i appen. Senare, samma dag som utskicken, blev de uppringda för en 24HR. Sambandsanalyser gjordes för att upptäcka eventuella korrelationer mellan det registrerade energiintaget i app och 24HR. Undersökning av eventuella skillnader mellan de två kostregistreringarna relaterades till ålder och BMI med hjälp av Pearsons korrelationskoefficient och Paired sample t-test. Signifikansnivå sattes till p<0,05.

Resultat Totalt analyserades 41 kostregistreringar. Det fanns inget signifikant samband mellan det genomsnittliga energiintaget som registrerades i app respektive 24HR (p=0,080). Pearson korrelationstest visade inget statistiskt samband mellan energiförbrukning och energiintag i app (p=0,679), och heller inget samband mellan energiförbrukning och energiintag via 24HR (p=0,162). Medelvärdet av kolhydratsintaget (p=0,039) och proteinintaget (p=0,029) var statistiskt signifikant mellan kostregistrering i app och 24HR. Medelvärdet för fettintaget (p=0,120) och alkoholintaget (p=0,544) var däremot inte statistiskt signifikant mellan app och 24HR.

Slutsats Studien tyder på att det finns potential för appen PREMEDkaloriräknare som en kostregistreringsmetod. Både 70- och 75-åringar är lämpade att kostregistrera i appen. Dock behöver appen utvecklas ytterligare innan den kan användas på individnivå och bedömas som en tillförlitlig kostregistreringsmetod.

Abstract [en]

ABSTRACT

Background To investigate individuals food intake more efficient dietary assessment methods have been developed, including dietary registration in an app. In order to draw conclusions about the new dietary registration methods, validation is required.

Objective To validate the app PREMEDkaloriräknare with 24-hour recall (24HR) for 70- and 75-year-olds.

Method The study was conducted through a collaboration with the Healthy Ageing initiative. Recruitment of the 70- and 75-year-olds took place at the research center Livsmedicin, from an ongoing study. The data collection lasted for seven weeks. In total, 26 individuals decided to participate. Participants got an introduction on how to register in the app, and were asked to register three days (including a weekend-day). A 24HR was done the same day they registered in the app. Correlation analyzes were made to detect possible correlations between the registered energy intake in the app and 24HR. Analysis of possible differences between dietary registrations in age and BMI was done. Pearson correlation coefficient and Paired sample t-test were used. Significance level was set to p <0.05.

Results In total, 41 dietary registrations were analyzed. There was no statistical significance of the energy intake between the app and 24HR (p=0.080). Pearson correlation test did not show a statistical correlation between energy expenditure and registered energy intake in app (p=0,679), nor through 24HR (p = 0.162). The mean of carbohydrate intake (p=0.039) and protein intake (p=0.029) were statistically significant between dietary registration in the app and 24HR. The mean fat intake (p=0.120) and alcohol intake (p=0.544) were not statistically significant.

Conclusion There is potential for the app PREMEDkaloriräknare as a dietary assessment method. Both 70- and 75-year olds are suitable to register their dietary intake in the app. However, the app needs further development before it can be used at an individual level and considered as a reliable dietary assessment method.
