Design rules for torque arm (English)
Abstract [en]

Bosch Rexroth is a company that manufactures radial piston hydraulic engines and accessories, commonly used in industries such as mining and marine applications. These engines generate significant torques during operation, often requiring the use of torque arms to handle the torque. However, there is an increasing need for customized torque arms of varying lengths, which consumes engineers' time as they have to perform new calculations for each new custom arm. The objective of this thesis is to establish design guidelines to determine the allowable length range for these torque arms, ensuring they do not experience yielding or buckling. The analysis includes evaluating the tensile strength of the torque arm and examining the bearings in both the engine and articulated connection. This was done with help of FEM. A comprehensive table of results is presented, engineers can refer to it instead of performing repetitive calculations, which leads to easier order handling process and reducing unnecessary time. The specific torque arms investigated in this study were TC A 400, TC A 840, TC A 1120, TC A 2000, and TC A 4000, along with their associated CB and CBm motors. The investigations were conducted using finite element modeling in Solidworks software. The results of this thesis are presented by a chart which the engineers can refer to when a custom torque arm is ordered.

Abstract [sv]

De momentarmarna undersöktes är TC A 400, TC A 840, TC A 1120, TC A 2000 och TC A 4000 med deras tillhörande CB och CBm motorer.
