Föräldrars förmåga att svara an på barnets signaler har inverkan på barnets framtida utveckling. Tidiga insatser för att behandla negativ utveckling i samspelet mellan förälder och barn är viktigt för att inte riskera barnets psykiska hälsa. I dagsläget finns inga studier som undersökt utfallet av samspelsbehandling genom MIM & Theraplay riktat till de späda- och små barnen. Studiens syfte är att undersöka mammors upplevelse av samspelsbehandling med Marschak Interaction Method (MIM) & Theraplay på Kompetenscentrum för mödra- och barnhälsovård, vid Norrlands Universitetssjukhus, för barn 0–18 månader. Kvalitativ metod i form av fallstudier har använts. Deltagarna är 4 mammor. Resultaten visar att mammorna upplevt att behandlingen har gett dem nya verktyg i samspelet, ökat deras förståelse, inbringat hopp om förändring, verkat skuldavlastande och stärkt självförtroendet som förälder. Resultaten visar på övervägande positiva upplevelser. Det är dock svårt att dra några slutsatser om resultaten är kopplade till metoden eller om det är resultat som är generella för psykoterapi, oavsett metod. För att kunna besvara denna fråga behövs fler studier med större deltagarantal och kontrollgrupp.

Parents' ability to respond to their child's signals has an impact on the child's future development. Early interventions to address negative interactions between parent and child are crucial to avoid risking the child's mental health. Currently, there are no studies investigating the outcomes of parent- child interaction treatment using MIM & Theraplay aimed at infants and young children. The aim of this study is to explore mothers' experiences of interaction treatment with Marschak Interaction Method (MIM) & Theraplay at Kompetenscentrum för mödra- och barnhälsovård in Umeå, for children aged 0–18 months. Qualitative method in form of case studies has been used. The participants are 4 mothers. The results indicate that the mothers felt that the treatment provided them with new tools in interaction, increased their understanding, brought hope for change, alleviated guilt, and strengthened their confidence as parents. The results imply predominantly positive experiences. However, it is difficult to draw conclusions about whether the results are linked to the method specifically or if they represent outcomes that are general to psychotherapy, regardless of method. Future studies with larger sample sizes and control groups are needed
