Abstract [en]

In this thesis, we study projective geometry and show a connection to kinematics. We show how the group of rigid body motions in three-dimensional space can be parameterized on a hyperbolic quadric in a seven-dimensional projective space. We also show that this quadric is a geometry with triality, and we discuss triality from a kinematic viewpoint. Finally, we discuss topics for further research based on this theory.

Abstract [sv]

I denna uppsats studerar vi projektiv geometri och visar på en koppling till kinematiken. Vi visar hur gruppen som beskriver rörelser hos stela kroppar i tre dimensioner kan parametriseras på en hyperbolisk kvadratisk hyperyta i ett sju-dimensionellt projektivt rum. Vi visar också att denna hyperyta är en geometri med trialitet och vi diskuterar trialitetsbegreppet i en kinematisk kontext. Slutligen diskuteras frågeställningar för framtida forskning utifrån denna teori.
