The need for more extensive cybersecurity grows as digitalization of different industries continues to develop, and there is a growing gap between these in Sweden. Previous research indicates that Sweden is not sufficiently equipped to handle the growing cybersecurity threats. The human factor is identified as an important factor for this and is one of the biggest challenges to overcome. This study will focus on an organization within the public sector, and its purpose is to answer the question of how cybersecurity requirements affect employee motivation and job satisfaction. Empirical data is gathered through 8 semi-structured interviews conducted in a case study of a university and were processed through qualitative thematic analysis.A modified version of JDR was developed, which demonstrates the need for a balance to exist between the resources available to employees and the demands on cybersecurity made by the organization. The results show that there is indeed a balance sustained in our case study, that can be explained by a number of resources provided by the organization. The employees show that they possess a high cybersecurity awareness which, together with these resources, leads them to accept the demands thrust upon them.
