Abstract [en]

This study examines the relationship between personality traits, training load, and athlete well-being. A sample of 118 long-distance runners provided data for the Ten-Item Personality Inventory and the WHOQOL-BREF quality of life questionnaire; their training load was assessed using the Acute-Chronic Workload Ratio. These data were collected through Microsoft Forms. Stepwise hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to investigate the main and interaction effects of personality and training load on four well-being domains: Psychological, Environmental, Social, and Physical. Results showed a significant positive correlation between Emotional Stability and all of the well-being dimensions. Extraversion showed a positive correlation to Psychological, Environmental, and Social Well-being. Contrary to expectations, Conscientiousness did not show any positive association with well- being. Higher levels of Extraversion typically suggest better Psychological and Physical Well- being, the results indicated that increased training loads might diminish these benefits. On the contrary, the results revealed positive links between Agreeableness, training load and Psychological and Physical Well-being. These outcomes highlight the intricate ways that personality traits and training loads can influence the well-being of long distance-runners. The study underscores the need for personalized approaches to optimize well-being by considering individual personality and training regimens.

Denna studie undersöker sambandet mellan personlighetsdrag, träningsbelastning och idrottares välbefinnande. Ett urval av 118 långdistanslöpare genomförde Ten-Item Personality Inventory och WHOQOL-BREF. Deras träningsbelastning bedömdes med hjälp av Acute- Chronic Workload Ratio. Dessa data samlades in via Microsoft Forms. Stegvisa hierarkiska regressionsanalyser genomfördes för att undersöka huvudeffekterna och interaktionseffekterna av personlighet och träningsbelastning på fyra välbefinnandeområden: psykologiskt, miljömässigt, socialt och fysiskt. Resultaten visade att emotionell stabilitet hade en signifikant positiv korrelation till alla välbefinnandedimensioner. Extraversion var positivt korrelerad till psykologiskt, miljömässigt och socialt välbefinnande. I motsats till förväntningarna visade samvetsgrannhet ingen positiv effekt. Högre nivåer av extraversion indikerar vanligtvis bättre psykologiskt och fysiskt välbefinnande, men resultaten indikerade att ökade träningsbelastningar kan minska dessa fördelar. Resultaten indikerade även positiva samband mellan vänlighet, träningsbelastning och psykologiskt och fysiskt välbefinnande. Studien belyser behovet av skräddarsydda träningsprogram som tar hänsyn till individuella personlighetsdrag och träningsvanor för att optimera välmående.
