PROGRAM FOR TUNING OF PID CONTROLLER FROM STEP RESPONSE IN RADIATOR HEATING SYSTEM (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Determining which parameters to use for a PID controller is a time consuming and advanced process. The PID parameters are extracted through calculations and manual labour, which can result in varying outcomes depending on the individual’s experience. Automating the tuning method to extract these parameters would save time and effort. The Lambda tuning method is implemented in a program to extract these parameters. The necessary parameters such as the deadtime, time constant and the process gain is extracted and methods of how this is done is presented. The program will extract these PID parameters from analyzing the step response. Two different hydronic systems for radiators are used for testing while the regulators are operating with the extracted parameters. These control systems were deemed operable with the extracted parameters.
