This thesis in the field of toponymy concerns the reconstruction of an older hydronomy of the lake system of Skedesjön and Mycklaflon in the region of northern Småland in Sweden, an area seldomly the subject of toponymical research. The thesis seeks to factually interpret the lake names and their relationship to each other as well as to describe other names of the lake system and alternative names of the system. The reconstruction of hydronomy aims to find an older name for the whole lake surface. The method applied uses excerpts from a wide array of historical sources ranging from 16th century urbaria to land surveyor protocols. The toponymical excerpts are factually interpreted and analysed according to criteria for hydronomical reconstruction. The results show four possible candidates for an older name of the lake but also a lack of substantial evidence emanating from a lack of medieval source material.
