Abstract [en]

This thesis investigates how emerging technologies impact the skill requirements forSoftware Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers, and Implementation Engineerswithin the tech industry in Sri Lanka. The study, conducted in a startup tech company,employed thematic analysis on data gathered from ten in-depth interviewsencompassing both technical and managerial positions. The findings emphasize thecritical importance of continuous professional development for technical employees tomaintain relevance and advance in their careers. Key insights include the necessity fortech professionals to stay abreast of rapid technological changes, engage ininterdisciplinary learning, and cultivate adaptability to thrive in an evolving landscape.The implications underscore the need for strategic planning and ongoing professionaldevelopment initiatives in IT Management to address evolving skill demands and ensureorganizational competitiveness. The research highlights the dual nature of technologicalprogress, offering both opportunities and challenges, and underscores the importance ofproactive skill development and institutional support to navigate the evolving techlandscape effectively.
