Högskoleprovet våren och hösten 2008: provdeltagargruppens sammansättning och resultat
2008 (Swedish)Report (Other academic)
Since spring 1977 the Swedish Scholastic Assessment Test (SweSAT) hasbeen used as an instrument for selection to higher education. The test is administeredtwice a year, once in spring and once in autumn, and it is allowedto take the test several times. The test scores are valid for five years, and fortest-takers with more than one test result the best valid result is used for admittance. After each test administration the raw score is transformed to astandardized score on a scale from 0.0 to 2.0, where 2.0 is the best result. The aim of the standardization is to equate the scores between different testoccasions, i.e. it should be just as easy or difficult to get a certain standardizedscore on one test occasion as on another. The aim of this report is todescribe the groups of test-takers in spring and in autumn 2008 regardingcomposition and results. Results are presented for test-takers of differentgender, age and background education. Further a description is given of theequating procedure and the outcome of the standardization. Finally someresults are presented of the effects of repeated test-taking. The results presentedin the report are based on data processing performed by MatsHamrén, head of the data management of the SweSAT.
