Modelling and Visualizing Short Term Impact of a Nuclear Accident on Transportation Flows

Abstract [en]

This paper presents an integrated system to calculate and visualize optimal evacuation routes in case of a serious release of radioactivity, minimizing the exposure to radiation. The system calculates and visualizes the optimal flow as to vacate any set of nodes while minimizing a specified cost. A mathematical model of the problemis formulated and then adapted in such a way that it can be used to solve the problemwith an offtheshelf geographic information system (GIS). Specifically, the Barents Region is studied and a hypothetical release from the Kola Nuclear Power Plant is used as a case study.

Denna rapport presenterar ett integrerat system för att beräkna och visualisera evakueringsvägar som minimerar exponeringen för radioaktivitet. Systemet beräknar och visualiserar det optimala flödet för att tömma en mängd noder till så ringa kostnad som möjligt. En matematisk modell av problemet formuleras och anpassas så att det kan användas för att lösa problemet i ett geografiskt informationssystem ( gis ). I rapporten studeras barentsområdet och en hypotetisk olycka vid Kola kärnkraftverk används som fallstudie.
