Abstract [sv]

Essän diskuterar förgrunden till Sara Lidmans roman Med fem diamanter (1964), de politiska  och biografiska omständigheterna kring dess tillblivelse i ett Kenya på väg in i ett postkolonialt skeende. Analysen berör tre element: språket, politiken och kärleken. Sara Lidman skriver inifrån ett mångspråkigt Kenya och lägger sig därmed tidigt i raden av postkoloniala författares strävan att hybridisera sitt medium. Romanen kan ses som en politisk allegori där kärleken mellan två män tillskrivs ett idealiserat emancipatoriskt innehåll.
