The importance of window construction’s for energy inpassive houses
Due to continuously increased requirements, in terms of material quality within housing and service sector, this project aims to study the incentives for window producers in Sweden to produce windows for passive house according to international standards. Nowadays the technology to produce windows for passive houses, according to international standard with value at 0,8 W/m²K, is fully available in Sweden. This is however still done to a very low extent. The northern climate in the northern parts of Sweden makes the heat isolating capacity for materials and building parts important for a building’s total energy consumption. The profits from passive solar radiation are however significant for southern Sweden where the number of sun hours are more extensive. The results of this project comprises a literature study and interviews with ten window producers. The selection from producing companies was chosen from material put together by the Swedish energy authority. In order to have a general picture of window producers in Sweden, further selection was made based on production scope in the choice of interview items. The questions have been formulated in order to respond to the report’s issues and the general result shows that there is an aspiration to produce passive house windows according to international standards among Swedish window producers. However, this is a future goal and today the production is based on consumer requirements. Furthermore, profits from passive solar radiation are expected to be of more importance in the future.
