Kosovo Albanian Refugees' Attachment to the Origin and Destination: Identity Formation and Belongingness among the Kosovo Albanian Diaspora in Sweden
Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
The Swedish Ministry of Justice (2013) has called for more migration and integration studies. Therefore, this thesis investigates migration processes and identity formation among eight Kosovo Albanians living in Sweden through in-depth interviewees, all of which were recruited by means of snowball sampling. These findings suggest that the interviewees have constructed dual identities and that migration system development between the origin and destination may be noted. In addition, this research has led to the creation of the software labeled „User Request Generator‟ (URG) which may be perceived as a contribution, however minor, to the study of geography. Findings in this thesis have several significant implications for policymakers and future research.
