Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to investigate how four teachers in year one reason about their work in order to develop the students reading ability, and also how their students relates to the teaching they participate in. I will especially look at the differences and similarities between the two classes. In my qualitative study focus will be on the qualities of answers rather than number of responses. During the study I am going to visit the two classes and I will also do interviews and develop a survey. The teachers in both classes use different materials in their classrooms altough the result shows that both teachers have similar opinions regarding reading comprehension, and their exercises resemble each other. The teachers are probably influenced of current pedagogical research but they retain a strong conviction about the meaning of formal reading construction and decoding. The survey shows that all students are quite satisfied with the reading and reading comprehension education.
