Thirty minutes daily reading practice during five weeks : SIlent reading in large groups and reading aloud in small groups with pupils in year 5 (English)
Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to see if practicing reading during year five gave results primarily for theweakest readers. During five weeks seven teachers and remedial teachers read with 53 students in yearfive. They were divided into groups dependent on the results from a screening, which was performedearlier in the autumn. The weakest students were placed in small groups and the stronger in larger groups. The students in the small groups took turns reading aloud while the readers in the larger groups readsilently for thirty minutes every day for five weeks. Those with the lowest results from the screening werethe ones who improved the most during this period. The results indicate that the weakest readersbenefitted from practicing reading in small groups.
