Abstract [en]

Atraumatic restorative treatment – a treatment to berecommended?Atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) is a concept of partialcaries removal with hand instruments, followed by a glass ionomerrestoration. There is emerging evidence that this approachequals that of conventional restorative treatment in terms ofsurvival rate, especially for single surface lesions in primary andsecondary molars. Other advantages are improved cooperationand reduced anxiety among children, while the cost aspects aremixed. In the era of minimal invasive dentistry, ART can safely beused in single-surface cavities in both primary and permanentteeth without a history of subjective or objective symptoms.
