Abstract [en]

This study aims to examine how the pilgrim hikers motives for their journey and what is defined as pilgrimage and how they relate to the ideals typical pilgrim. The study has been through two blogs, and four literary texts to explored this. The six hikers have all made a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, a well-known medieval Christian pilgrimage. A qualitative method in the form of text analysis has been used and as background have previous research in the area has been used. With help from the hermeneutic understanding and analysis carried out. The results show among other things that the motives vary, but that a change in life is desirable, and that they do not identify with the ideals typical pilgrim.
