Abstract [sv]

Syfte. Att jämföra strålrelaterade hudbiverkningar efter behandling av bröstcancer mellan kvinnor som använt en nyutvecklad bh innehållande ullfrotté, och kvinnor som inte använt bhn.

Bakgrund. Bröstcancer är den vanligaste cancerdiagnosen för kvinnor i världen, där behandlingen främst utgörs av kirurgi med kompletterande cytostatika- och strålbehandling. En av de vanligaste biverkningarna vid strålbehandling är hudreaktioner.

Design. Kvantitativ deskriptiv tvärsnittsstudie.

Metod. Enkätstudie som inkluderade bröstcancerpatienter som genomgick strålbehandling. En interventionsgrupp (n=14) och en kontrollgrupp (n=17) besvarade tre enkäter, en vid behandlingsstart, en vid mitten och en i slutet av behandlingen. Data samlades in på två strålbehandlingsavdelningar under våren 2015. Analysen utfördes med Fisher´s Exact Test och Mann Whitney U Test i IBM SPSS version 23.

Resultat. Resultatet visade att majoriteten av kvinnorna i föreliggande studie var drabbade av hudbiverkningar. Kvinnorna var välinformerade och inga signifikanta skillnader påvisades mellan grupperna gällande information om eventuella hudbiverkningar. I jämförelse mellan grupperna framkom signifikanta skillnader gällande tidsaspekten för utvecklingen av de strålrelaterade hudbiverkningarna. Vi fann att hudbiverkningarna rodnad och klåda utvecklades senare hos deltagarna i interventionsgruppen.

Konklusion. Resultatet i studien visade att den nyutvecklade produkten, bestående av ullfrotté innehållande lanolinet med sina antiinflammatoriska och antimikrobiella egenskaper, kan ha fördröjt utvecklingen av strålrelaterade hudbiverkningar. Ytterligare forskning behövs inom området.

Abstract [en]

 

 

Aim. To compare the radiation-related skin reactions among a group of women who used a newly developed a bra containing wool terry, and a group of women who had not used the bra and undergone radiation treatment for breast cancer.

Background. Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women worldwide, where treatment mainly consists of surgery with complimentary chemotherapy and radiotherapy. One of the most common side effects of radiotherapy is skin reactions.

Design. Quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study.

Methods. Questionnaire survey study with a quantitative approach which included breast cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy, two groups were compared at two hospitals in the Northern Region in Sweden (n = 31). The analysis was done with Fisher´s Exact Test and Mann Whitney U Test.

Results. The results showed that the majority of the women in this study were affected by skin reactions. The women were well informed and no significant differences were found between the groups regarding information about any skin reactions. The comparison between the groups showed significant differences over time regarding the development of radiation-related skin reactions side effects. We found that the side effects redness and itching were later developed by the participants in the intervention group.

Conclusion. The results of the study showed that the newly developed product, consisting of wool terry containing lanolin with the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, may have delayed the development of radiation-related skin reactions. Further research is needed.
