Try-out, documentation and process data : A method to automatically record and save the process parameters in the hardening line 7. (English)
This report has been carried out to obtain mechanical engineering degree at Umeå University. The project was conducted in collaboration with Gestamp Hardtech in Luleå, a company active in the automotive industry and press hardening technology.
My main aim has been to read signals from the press as well as to automate the process and data management. The idea behind this is that the company will be able to compare setpoint and actual value with each other to see how the press has worked during the forming process. In this way the company can improve its documentation and thus their quality at the try-out operations.
The methodology used in the implementing has been the software from the company that manufactured the PLC. Thanks to the software TwinCAT 3 with associated Scope function could signals from the press at hardening line 7 be added. Scope view 3 contains a trigger function called Start and Stopsubsave providing the ability to automatically save files down after each press cycle. In addition, this software has Visual Basic for Applications delivered by Microsoft with Excel is used for coding of macros.
The results show that this method works and that coding in Visual Basic for Application is a tool that allows you to automatically retrieve information from the press to the Excel document. The data retrieved from the press to the Excel document is presented in diagram form of the variables pressure generated. In addition to these elements include the result of communication with the PLC at hardening line 7, the possibility of remote control of the computer and file transfer from the computer to the network. All these parts are working at present automatically.
Since the analysis of the data generated from the Scope function requires some knowledge of the software and the process of hardening line 7 can further work be to present data in a simpler way. This is so the company employees can easily make use of this information.
