Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study was to examine three teachers use and knowledge of digital tools in lessons in Swedish, how the teachers motivate their use of them and if digital tools motivates students. The methods used were interviews and observations. The results show that teachers mostly applies digital tools for introductions for new assignments and lessons in writing. An analysis of the interviews and observations raises topics for further discussion: teachers do not have time to improve their knowledge within digital tools by themselves, there is an insufficiency of capacity building and teachers feel an insecurity if they have enough competence within digital tools. The discussion of these results questions if the students’ motivation to use digital tools decreases over time if the usage of them remains the same.
