Abstract [en]

In the curriculum for Swedish in upper secondary school it is stated that the teaching should contain literature. However it is very much up to every teacher to decide which books the pupils should read and how the work should proceed. It can be hard to know how to carry out this task in a meaningful way and this thesis wish to evaluate a noted book-talking method in order to show how this work could be done. I my work I have taught an upper secondary class the method and then they have performed three book-talks in five groups of five to six pupils. Their book-talks were recorded and have then been analysed in order to see how the pupils use the method, what kind of progress they make and finally how they evaluate the method. The results show that some parts of the method is crucial for the outcome of the book-talks and also that some parts of the method is easier for the pupils to put into practice than others. Three lessons is too short time to be able to see any real progress but some of the groups get more comfortable with the method as the project proceeds. The pupils are very positive about using the method. They are also positive to book-talks on the whole.
