Arbetsterapeuters resonemang om möjligheter och begränsningar kring barn med cerebral pares - En kvalitativ studie

Abstract [sv]

Introduktion: Habilitering innefattar yrkesmässigt arbete för personer med varaktig funktionsnedsättning. Cerebral Pares (CP) är en benämning för att beskriva icke progressiva, men föränderliga funktionsnedsättningar. Barn med CP är en stor patientgrupp för arbetsterapeuter inom habilitering.

Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att belysa arbetsterapeuters erfarenheter och uppfattningar om arbetet kring barn med CP inom habilitering.  

Metod: En kvalitativ studie utfördes genom individuella narrativa samtal med åtta yrkesverksamma arbetsterapeuter som arbetade inom habilitering med barn med CP. Intervjuerna bearbetades med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys.  

Resultat: I resultatet framkom hur arbetsterapeuter resonerade kring barn med CP. Resultatet redovisas i löpande text och illustreras med citat under fyra kategorier: ”Samarbete och ta del av varandras kunskaper”, ”Möte utifrån olika perspektiv”, ”Relationsskapande och tillit” och ”Empowerment”.

Slutsats: Ytterligare samverkan mellan barn- och vuxenhabilitering behövs för att planera insatser långsiktigt och förebyggande. Kulturella skillnader mellan familjer och hälso-sjukvårdspersonal inom habiliteringen kan påverka insatser för barn med CP.

Abstract [en]

Introduction: Rehabilitation include professional work for people with permanent disabilities. Cerebral palsy (CP) is a term used to describe non progressive, but changing disabilities. Children with CP is a large group of patients for occupational therapists in rehabilitation.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine occupational therapists experiences and perceptions of work on children with CP in rehabilitation.

Method: A qualitative study was conducted through individual narrative conversations with eight professional occupational therapists who worked in rehabilitation of children with CP. The interviews were processed using qualitative content analysis.

Results: The result showed how occupational therapists reasoned about children with CP. The results are reported in text and illustrated with quotations in four categories: "Cooperation and share each other's knowledge," "Meeting from different perspectives," "Creating relationships and trust," and "Empowerment".

Conclusion: Further collaboration between pediatric and adult rehabilitation is needed to plan long-term interventions and prevention for children with CP. Cultural differences between families and healthcare professionals in rehabilitation could affect efforts for children with CP.
