Inomhusrelaterad ohälsa: En jämförande studie av inomhusmiljön på förskolorna Rödhaken och Holken i Nordmalings kommun

Abstract [en]

The employees at the preschool Rödhaken in Nordmaling have experienced problems with the environment but the preschool Holken next door has not. The purpose of the project was to identify parameters that may cause the problems with the environment at Rödhaken and establish an action plan. A comparison of the two preschools working environment regarding physical parameters, chemical exposure and wellbeing may be factors that could explain the problems at Rödhaken. Temperature, humidity, noise, light, ventilation and mold were measured at the two preschools. An inventory of materials that may expose chemicals was made after a templet from SSNC (The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation) called ”non- toxic preschool”. All the preschool educators were also interviewed about psychosocial conditions and indoor related problems. The temperature was significantly higher at Holken with a mean temperature of 23.5 °C. At Rödhaken was the mean temperature 20.0 °C. Humidity was significant lower at Rödhaken with a mean value of 34 %. At Holken was the humidity 42.2 %. The ventilation did not distinguish between the preschools but were to low compared to the recommendations for schools and there were materials that could cause chemical exposure effecting the health at both preschools. The preschool educators at Rödhaken were more stressed and had less codetermination. The exposure for dust was higher at Rödhaken. The conclusion is that a combination of low humidity and ventilation rate, exposure to chemicals and dust and the psychosocial environment may be factors that could cause problems with the environment at preschools.
