Abstract [en]

Knowledge is power within knowledge organizations. Knowledge is their primaryproduct, resource and capital and dictates the success for the work within theorganization. This case-study aims to create a better understanding how knowledgeorganizations work with the extraction of knowledge from within them self. To fullyunderstand how organizations can manage the extraction of knowledge they have tounderstand what tools are necessary for extraction and what social barriers that canaffect the extraction process. To be able to find the tools for extraction of knowledgethe study will use the reflective processes that are carried out within knowledgeorganizations to understand the different aspects that affects the tools for extractionof knowledge. This study is based on an assignment given by the studied company toinvestigate how their retrospective meetings is being used within their project groupsand how these meetings could be used to further develop the extraction of knowledgewithin the company. To better understand the extraction of knowledge the study alsoinvolves the examination of tools for extraction and knowledge and also whatbarriers exists and are created in this activities and how reflection affects theextraction of knowledge. This study finds many factors that affects the extraction ofknowledge that are both due to the co-workers motivation and the organizationincentive to participate in the extraction processes and that different extractionactivities stimulates the extraction of different kinds of knowledge bound to differentdimensions within the organization depending of how the activity is designed.
