Recintare/Delimitare,  un  nuovo  "materiale"  della  composizione urbana: [Il tessuto di recinti come proposta di un possibile modo di intervenire sulle aree indefinite della città contemporanea].
2010 (Italian)Doctoral thesis, monograph (Other academic)
Abstract [en]

The research topic investigates the role of the "enclosures" in the contemporary city. Observing the city, its voids and its paths, in particular the peripheral areas of the contemporary city, it is possible to notice how many of its spaces are completely inaccessible and closed between "fences". The presence of walls, barriers, boundaries, elements of separation make it impossible the perception of the underused spaces of the contemporary city. Areas of expansion, former industrial areas are the object of this research. The investigation of this thesis starts from observing an area of the city of Naples characterized by the presence of elements that separate ineer spaces from the outside, very often with completely arbitrary logics with respect to the elements contained. The reason for the interest in this research topic is linked to the possibility of tracing a method of reading and description for a underused areas of the city starting from its prevailing character, in this case the eastern Neapolitan area and its enclosures.
