This chapter explores learning experiences of Chinese as a Foreign Language (CFL) among international students in Chinese Higher Education. Reviewing Chinese governmental policies to promote CFL and academic research on this subject over the past decade, we discuss intercultural dynamics in foreign language teaching and learning in terms of the outward-oriented internationalization of higher education. Drawing on an empirical study of international students' experience in CFL learning in China, the chapter highlights the students' perceptions of ongoing institutional practices and how they navigate their CFL learning in the intercultural dimension. Finally, the chapter identifies several key issues related to curricula and support of CFL learning, socialization and mutual understanding between international and domestic stakeholders, and intercultural identity formulation, suggesting avenues for future research.
