This contribution addresses institutional ethical aspects of New Testament scholarship that could receive greater attention in the future. It reflects on these in two sections. Section A focuses on the Within Judaism paradigm as a case study, showing how the paradigm has successfully integrated into existing historical-critical approaches and identifying aspects of its approach to scholarship that should be improved, such as its lack of diversity or attention to Western supremacy. Section B discusses broader issues within academic culture, in particular so-called cancel culture and meritocracy. While both sections function together, they can also be read independently from each other.
